CONNECTING PICTURES

The exhibition is about strong women, who are linked by Vantaa and its surroundings. The women use images to narrate their lives, cultures, and
important life events – from everyday moments to celebrations. The stories from this multicultural group contain memories from the first moments of moving to
Finland, and from early childhood, both in Afghanistan and Tikkurila in Vantaa. The focus is not just on big life events, but also on the smaller ones, which can
sometimes contain life’s most precious moments and memories. What makes a good life? The exhibition has been produced by the Pictures Narrate women’s group in
Vantaa in 2020-2021. In the meetings of the group, the women discussed things that are important to them using their own photographs as well images from the
Picture Collections of the Finnish Heritage Agency.
